A resident of Fort Worth graduated from the Animal Behavior College (ABC) emphasizing in shelter dog training.
I did my externship with the Human Society of North Texas in Fort Worth where I was hired as an adoption counselor. This position was filled with opportunities to find people the dog of their dreams.
I was also able to hone my training techniques on dozens of breeds while understanding the unique challenges of a shelter dog’s life.
Recently I got involved in Service Dog Training through Train a Dog Save a Warrior (TADSAW). It is a non-profit 501(c)(3)(D4)* organization that helps put shelter dogs into their forever homes with the veterans that suffer from PTSD, TBI, and MST.
Dog Group Classes and Private Home Lessons are two ways I offer training to people.
I have partnered up with a self-serve dog wash & full-service grooming: Happy K9 along with Spa Paws Hotel “The Lap of Luxury” to work Group Classes into their well-rounded love for dogs. Private Lessons are in the comfort of your home but also where the dog feels the most in control.
Lessons range from one time visit to 4-7 week packages where I coach the owners to train their dog in everything from Obedience Training and Problem Solving to Leadership Training if necessary.
My training techniques teach dogs that obedience and other desirable behaviors are things they like using rewards such as treats, toys, petting and praise.
This type of training creates a dog whose primary motivation is based on earning a reward as opposed to avoiding a punishment. My goal is to teach the client to look at their dog as an individual and use the things he or she likes as a way of rewarding them whenever they do something the client likes. This will motivate both the client and their dog without causing unnecessary confusion or stress.
My Name is Michelle and I love what I do!
