Ryan Kwasnica lives in Springstein, Manitoba, Canada, and he trains in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Ryan has four kennels attached to his home and he does in-home dog training as well. Charlene Dodson - Student of the Month

Charlene Dodson, a western riding instructor who lives in Colorado Springs, Colo., has a passion for animals. She was raised with all sorts of pets and is comfortable working with them. All those years of caring for her own animals inspired Charlene to pursue a career working with them. As her life revolves around her horses, Charlene said she would eventually like to primarily work with large animals. Continue reading

Brittany Moore

Brittany Moore currently resides in Glen Alpine, N.C. She works as an independent contractor at the grooming shop where she completed her externship. Brittany likes working for herself and setting her own hours, which is part of the reason she enrolled in ABC’s certified pet grooming program. She works Monday through Friday and leaves when the last dog is complete and up to her standards. Brittany always had a passion for animals but wasn’t quite sure of what to do with her eagerness and drive. She really enjoys grooming and is very content with her life. Continue reading

Lee Anne Rogers

Lee Anne Rogers Student of the Month 

Lee Anne Rogers had a steady career in administration and accounting and trained agility part-time for her local dog club in Alberta, Canada, when her world suddenly changed. Her husband received a transfer from the Royal Canadian Air Force to Edwards Air Force Base in California. Thousands of miles away from her friends and family, Lee Anne was compelled to do some soul searching; and realized she wanted enroll in a dog trainer school and train dogs full-time. Some online exploration led Lee Anne to the ABC dog obedience program, and she passed with honors in July. She now offers private lessons and volunteers for a rescue in Pearblossom, Calif. Georgiana Traney - August Student of the Month

Georgianna Traney lives in Langhorne, Pa., and is the proud “mom” of a 12-year-old short-haired domestic kitty named Simba. She completed her externship at Flowers Mill Veterinary Hospital, which is also in Langhorne. During her spare time, Georgianna loves to volunteer at her local non-kill shelter, where she helps cats and dogs find a forever homes. She is currently pursuing a full-time career since completing her ABC certification. Georgianna is seriously considering continuing her education to become a veterinary technician. Continue reading

Sara Uhalde - August Grooming Student of the Month

Sara Uhalde lives in Red Bluff, Calif. She began her path toward becoming a professional groomer in May 2012, when she started the grooming program at Animal Behavior College. Sara did very well in her externship and even though she has not graduated yet, she was hired on as a part-time groomer at Rub A Dub Dog Grooming and is loving every minute of it. Continue reading

Aleisha Martin lives in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Aleisha, or Ali for short, is in the process of completing her externship at Petcetera, a large and successful grooming salon and pet store. She is building her confidence and skill level with each new day at her externship. August Canadian Dog Trainer Student Of The Month - Pat May

ABC’s Students Saving Lives program was launched nearly 10 years ago to help save the lives of shelter dogs. No other student better exemplifies this mission than Pat May. In 2011, Pat retired from a career in community development and relocated to Creston, British Columbia, Canada, where she looked for a volunteer position. Always a dog lover, she found a job doing office work one day a week at Creston Pet Adoption and Welfare Society (PAWS), an independent no-kill shelter. Two years later, Pat is now an ABC grad with honors and trainer at Creston PAWS, where she volunteers nearly every day, managing the kennel area. Continue reading

Jeff Damon - July Student of the Month

Jeff Damon, who started his animal career as a volunteer at shelters, is expanding his knowledge by completing ABC’s grooming program. Jeff lives and works in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. After completing the program’s written stages with honors, Jeff began his hands-on training with mentor Rita McTavish at The Beloved Dog Daycare and Grooming. Jeff is currently working on expanding his already-established dog training and grooming business. Continue reading

Archie Pate - July Veterinary Assistant Student of the Month 2013

Archie Pate Jr. was always very passionate about working with pets and having a career in the animal care industry. He currently has several pets, including a 7-ft. long black dragon water monitor, an 80-lb. sulcata tortoise, and an 8-year old, female, green anaconda. He achieved his goal when he was hired on at his externship site, VCA California Oaks Veterinary Hospital in Murrieta, CA and plans on eventually becoming a licensed veterinary technician.
