After working in the corporate world for the past 26 years, I decided to do something different with my life. I left my job in 2006 and volunteered at the FLSPCA. Working around animals made me realize that I could make a big difference in their lives.
It has been estimated that approx. 60% of dogs in animal shelters are there due to unruly behavior. I wanted the opportunity to help them have a second chance in life, so I enrolled in ABC’s Dog Obedience Instructor Training program. I chose this program because, along with the curriculum that teaches students to understand what motivates a dog’s behavior, it included hands-on training.
We’ll work on becoming a good pack leader through proper, positive and effective feeding, sleeping, house access and playing rituals and tactics.
