My name is Emily Hanyzewski. I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a little bit about me so hopefully you will feel more comfortable with me training your dog. I have always been an animal lover. I’ve always owned a menagerie of animals. But dogs have always held a special place in my hear. I found myself watching dog shows on TV, reading encyclopedias about dogs, and visiting the dogs at the local shelters. When I was four years old, I decided I wanted to be a marine biologist. But as I got older, I realized that wasn’t my true calling. And I became fascinated with the world of veterinary medicine. During high school, I was accepted into the Veterinary Assisting course at the Elkhart Area Career Center in Elkhart, Indiana. I had planned to go to vet school. But sadly, it didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped. After doing research, I found Animal Behavior College. I had saw the commercials on TV all the time, but had never paid them any mind. I contacted them and enrolled in their Dog Obedience Trainer course. I am now currently certified. I have been lucky enough to mentor under Jena Shimkus, the owner of Academy For Obedient Paws in Elkhart, Indiana. I’ve had the opportunity to observe and assist in group classes, observe and assist in private lessons, and assist in evaluating and certifying therapy animals for Pet Partners with Jena. I also volunteered at South Bend Animal Care and Control as a dog walker and general volunteer for six months and worked with well over 50 dogs of various breeds and ages. I hope to be given the opportunity to learn a lot and train many dogs. Thank-you.
