I spent 4 of my 5 years at the Connecticut Humane Society working with the Behavior Modification Group of Volunteers helping with those dogs who might not have been the most adoptable.
We spent our time working on basic manners, social skills and as they stayed in the system, escalated to more specific behavior modification.
I espcially liked working with the shy dogs, those who just didn’t trust yet and watch them thrive and become great dogs.
I recently worked with a private rescue group of dogs saved from death from Georgia to Connecticut. The puppies were adopted out quickly but the 3 dogs who needed more time for medical or behavior reasons spent weeks with us as a group where they learned commands very quickly and have all gotten adopted into their new homes.
