I am a force-free positive reinforcement trainer with nearly two decades of experience working with dogs of all breeds/mixes in shelter, rescue, group training class, specialized field clinics, behavior evaluations, and private home environments. Behaviors addressed include all basic and advanced manners training, CGC Evaluation, redirecting reactive/undersocialized behaviors toward forming positive associations through counterconditioning and gradual desensitization. My tools include use of toys, food, and praise, whatever motivates your dog to want to learn while having fun through building confidence in social skills and focused cues. My goal is to encourage patience, awareness of body language (both human and canine!), and a respectful bond between dogs and their people.
I do not use aversive equipment such as corrective collars (prong, shock, pinch, etc.) or harsh verbal commands, instead flat buckle collars and non-cinching harnesses when needed as positive training tools. Leading dog behavior and body language classes for staff and volunteers at shelters in the Northeast as well as teaching classes addressing on-leash reactivity has been my focus since 2012, and I am excited to be headed back to the Southwest to continue learning and helping as a positive reinforcement trainer.
