Ready to Be Your Own Boss?
Put Your Grooming Skills to Work with Rover
By: The Rover Grooming Staff
As a graduate of Animal Behavior College, you’ve put in the hours. Now comes the exciting part: building a career that fits your personal goals, schedule, and income aspirations.
Whether you’re looking to launch a full-time independent grooming business, transition into mobile or house-call grooming, or simply fill gap hours around your current salon job, Rover offers flexibility and the ability to connect directly with local pet parents.
Why List Your Grooming Services on Rover?
Running an independent styling business traditionally means juggling multiple things; marketing, scheduling and grooming. With Rover, we take on many of these things so you can focus on doing what you love: grooming dogs.
- Set Your Own Rates & Keep Your Independence: Unlike traditional salon commission models, listing independently allows you to set prices that reflect your ABC credential, expertise, and time. With Rover, you keep 80% versus 30-60% at a salon.
- Schedule Control: You decide when, where, and how many dogs you take. Want to work four days a week? Prefer one-on-one appointments to reduce stress for pets? You get to specify your calendar and service style.
- Local Visibility: Instead of spending on advertising, website development, or social media ads, Rover connects you directly to a massive, established network of local pet parents who are actively looking for grooming services in your area.
- Seamless Payments: Bookings and payments are handled securely through the platform, giving you built-in scheduling structure and peace of mind. You set your own cancellation policy and receive a direct deposit once grooms are complete.
How to Get Started: 5 Simple Steps
Setting up your grooming profile on Rover is straightforward.
1. Create Your Profile & Highlight Your ABC Background
Your education sets you apart. When setting up your bio, lead with your Animal Behavior College certification, hands-on hours, and specialized skills. Pet parents look for professionals who prioritize safety and their dog’s experience.
2. Pass a Safety Quiz
All groomers and bathers must pass this safety quiz to ensure grooms will happen safely and you have all the tools you will need to do so.
3. Ask Past Clients for Testimonials
This helps build trust with pet parents looking at your profile. Getting to see what past clients have to say leads to an increase in bookings. Don’t snooze on this step.
4. Service Settings
Decide how you want to offer your services. Whether you operate out of a private home salon setup, provide house-call grooming in the client’s home, or run a mobile van unit, you can customize your service settings to match your equipment and preferences. You can also set a specific travel radius so you’re only taking clients in your ideal neighborhood. This is where you set the sizes you groom, add-on services you offer, travel radius, and cancellation policy.
5. Complete the Verification Process
To maintain high standards across the platform, you’ll complete a standard background check and profile review. Once approved, your profile goes live, and local pet parents can begin discovering your services!
Your ABC education gave you the foundation to be an exceptional pet stylist. Platforms like Rover give you the tools to run your business on your own terms.
Grooming is currently live in Atlanta, Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Tampa, Miami, Seattle, and Phoenix. If you are outside of these metro areas, you can join our waitlist and be the first to know when Grooming is live in your area!
