At Animal Behavior College, it is our philosophy that creating a canine-human relationship built on positive interaction and consistency can: often deter future unwanted behavior problems; facilitate faster learning; and even solve some existing behavioral challenges. This philosophy incorporates scientific behavioral principles of operant conditioning and the LIMA approach: using the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive method possible in every training case.
While our bias is positive reinforcement, we believe instruction on a variety of animal training methods and ideologies provides the most comprehensive education.
Our bias should not be interpreted as a condemnation of other dog training philosophies or dog training schools. It is not our intention to credit or discredit dog trainers who use more aversive training techniques than those emphasized in the Dog Trainer Program.
We have endeavored to go beyond the mechanics of dog obedience training by teaching our students the importance of interspecies communication, and because our classes are offered online it feels like having a school for “dog training near me.”
ABC believes that by using a balance of meaningful rewards and following proven scientific training techniques, ABC Certified Dog Trainers will be able to provide safe, humane and effective dog training alternatives to the dog owning public.
