Some types of work with animals simply require love for animals and talent with caring for them. Animal school programs can last several months to several years. To find the right program, ask basic questions about locations, roles, and goals you find interesting.

What environment do you enjoy most? Some people prefer to work inside. Others enjoy being in the outdoors. A person who prefers to be indoors may be more content in an office, working as a veterinary assistant or lab technician. In this case, veterinary school or assistant training programs may be an option.

What roles do you enjoy? If you love playing with animals, you may want to pursue positions in a pet shop, or kennel. If you love the role of healing sick animals or relieving them of medical issues, these roles would be fulfilled by way of veterinary-related careers. In this case, looking at programs in veterinary school is probably a wise way to start your career exploration.

What types of animals do you enjoy being around? Some people enjoy the silence or mysterious drones of aquatic animals. Others thrive off of the energy and showmanship of horses. Many people prefer the companionship of animals like cats, dogs, and other household pets. In looking for programs, consider the types of animals you love.
