Animal Career Exploration
One needs not work as a veterinarian to have a rewarding animal career! People who love to work with animals can pursue a variety of degrees, certifications, and jobs. Some types of work with animals simply require love for animals and talent with caring for them. Animal school programs can last several months to several years. To find the right program, ask basic questions about locations, roles, and goals you find interesting.
What environment do you enjoy most? Some people prefer to work inside. Others enjoy being in the outdoors. A person who prefers to be indoors may be more content in an office, working as a veterinary assistant or lab technician. Many people prefer the companionship of animals like cats, dogs, and other household pets. In looking for programs, consider the types of animals you love.
Asking the right questions up front can go a long way in helping candidates choose an academic program that will lead to a rewarding career. As with any advanced planning, whatever program and career you choose should have a payoff that makes the endeavor worthwhile!
