Laura Weilbacher
ABC Admissions Counselor

To say I was a dog lover before I was born is an accurate statement. Laura’s mother was 8 months pregnant when she tripped over her pregnant Boxer Bridget. They both whimpered a loud ugh, and gave birth with no complications, except for the knot on Laura’s head.

Laura loved her Boxer. She would ride Bridget like a pony and treated her as a best friend. Bridget taught me to trust, be patience, and to never fear an animal because of their size or look.

Laura was born in Washington D.C. and moved to “Sunny” California when she was 10 years old. Growing up Laura’s mother always made sure she had a pet to love. She decided a smaller dog would be next and that’s when we owned the first of many Toy Poodles. “What a joy they have brought to our lives,” says Laura.

Laura attended Cal State University, Northridge and U.C.L.A. receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree. She was given her first, very own poodle to care for while in college. Snowflake was Laura’s best friend for 16 wonderful years and will always hold a special place in her heart.

Laura’s career path has taken many a turn. She was a Professional Make-up artist, a specialty store buyer, a marketing assistant and a Real Estate Agent specializing in New Home Sales. During all these learning experiences Laura has been blessed with 4 more Toy Poodles. Misty and Ruffles, sisters that are as different as night and day, and currently Holly and Shiloh, the most special Christmas presents from her husband, Damian.

Laura’s husband proposed to her in Shakespeare’s Garden in Stratford upon Avon They then visited The City of Lights, Paris, where they feel in love not only with the city, but with each others love of animals.

We missed our “Girls” would call home daily to leave messages for them on the answering machine. Laura and Damian love to travel, but prefer road trips when the whole family can go along for the ride. “Our dogs have wonderful souls and I am thankful for every paw print they have left on my heart,” pronounces Laura.

Laura says, “To find myself part of ABC team seems a natural progression for me. Working with and for animals is where my heart is. Being able to assist others, who feel the same way, makes this a rewarding job.”

"It's so rewarding to see our students go from asking their first questions to finishing their education and being able to fulfill their dreams of working with animals. With so much need for certified professionals in all aspects of the animal industry, it's a lot of fun to see all the different ways our students are becoming successful."
