ABC Potential Students and Covid-19

If you are considering enrolling at ABC but are wondering how/if Covid-19 might impact your studies, here are a few things to be aware of.  ABC’s online programs are well-suited for busy students who prefer to take classes while doing so in the safety and convenience of their homes. We are committed to being responsive and supportive of our students as this situation evolves.

We understand that people are passionate about making animals their careers and together we will assist you in making this a reality. Here are some common questions potential students have at this time.

Will ABC remain open?

Yes. ABC has remained open during the entire pandemic.  We will remain open full time to help answer questions all potential students have as well as maintaining a full staff to work with students as they progress through their course of study.

Should I enroll in an ABC program during this time?

The decision to enroll in a course of study that can take anywhere from 9-16 months must be based on your personal needs and desires. Animal lovers looking to enroll in our Dog Trainer, Dog Groomer, Cat Trainer and Veterinary Assistant programs should understand that the first 80% of your 11-stage program will consist of home study. This will allow you to work for many months from the comfort and safety of your home. Once you reach stage 10, we will place you with a working professional dog trainer, rescue (for cats), grooming salon and/or veterinary hospital or clinic. Students enrolling in our Aquarium Maintenance Program should be aware that 100% of their course of study can be completed at home.

Will my program progress be delayed as a result of Covid-19?

Unlikely but possible.  All of our programs are 11 stage courses that are taught sequentially. If you enroll in our Dog Trainer, Dog Groomer, Cat Trainer and Veterinary Assistant programs it will typically take you a minimum of 7-8 months to reach your hands-on portion of your course. If Covid-19 flares up again 7-8 months from now, and causes some businesses to suspend operations, it is possible that some delays in your externship could occur.  However, it is worth noting that as of June 2020 we are actively placing students with mentors all across the nation.   While no one knows how long this crisis will last one thing seems certain. This will eventually pass.
