Ashley Rendon is an ABC Certified Dog Trainer who focuses her professional efforts on public service. After making the most of her MyCAA benefits, she now works for the Red Cross, where, among a great many other responsibilities, she educates pet owners about how to include their Furry Friends in disaster preparedness planning. Lisa Deoppe completed her externship with the experienced ABC mentors at Centerville Animal Hospital located in Chesapeake, Va.. At the hospital’s salon, she was able to work alongside professionals while honing her grooming skills. Lisa currently runs an in-home grooming business and doesn’t turn any pets away. Her fully functional salon offers a variety of services in a relaxed environment. Lisa is excited about growing the business and enhancing her pet grooming techniques. Continue reading

ABC Dog Training Program's Student of the month - Zenith "BeirneZenith “Beirne” Beaty, a Cleveland resident, is currently interning at Play Dog Excellent! with dog trainers Nancy Miller and Julie Jones-Thornton. She’s been involved with Institutional Advancement for higher education for the past 30 years and started working with the rescue Cleveland for a No Kill City as a foster mom, temperament assessor and transportation coordinator. Later, Beirne became a short-term hospice foster for older dogs, turning some of their lives around and finding them forever homes. Beirne is planning to offer dog training classes that emphasize positive reinforcement methods for the rescue’s foster families. Continue reading

Ana Avolio, born in Romania and raised in Lyndhurst, Ohio, has always had a passion for animals. She has cared for a variety of pets throughout her life and is so dedicated to them that she once made a giant cage to give her birds more room to fly. Ana loves the feeling she gets when returning a once-sick animal back to its family, happy and healthy. Diane Stene

Diane Stene, a resident of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, is a now-retired pharmaceutical representative specializing in women’s health. Her love of dogs combined with her volunteer work at the animal shelter prompted Diane to pursue a second career in dog obedience training.

Now that Diane has completed her final exams, she is ready for the next step: starting her own dog consulting company. She plans to help first-time dog owners with choosing the right dog, preparing their home, housebreaking and initial training.. Diane will continue to be involved with her local animal shelter, volunteering her training knowledge on a regular basis. She’s glad to have completed the ABC Certification and feels that the program supplied so much needed support and assistance. This coupled with her mentor trainer’s guidance has given her the confidence and hands-on experience she needed to become a successful dog trainer within the industry. Continue reading
